BYD has once again secured its position as the global New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sales champion, exceeding its 2023 target with over 3 million vehicles sold. This marks the second consecutive year that BYD has led worldwide electric vehicle (EV) sales.
In 2023, BYD also ranked among the Top 10 automotive brands globally while maintaining its position as the best-selling car brand in China.
BYD's 2023 Sales Performance: A 61.9% Growth Surge
BYD's 3,024,417 vehicle sales in 2023 reflect an impressive 61.9% increase from the previous year. Of this total:
- 1.6 million vehicles were Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV)
- 1.4 million vehicles were Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV)
BYD Dominates Global BEV Sales in Q4 2023
In the fourth quarter of 2023, BYD led global BEV sales with 526,409 all-electric vehicles sold, surpassing all other BEV manufacturers. This milestone solidified BYD's dominance in the EV industry.

In 2023, BYD's international sales skyrocketed by 334.2%, with 242,765 vehicles sold across 70 countries on six continents.
The BYD Dynasty and Ocean series models also saw record-breaking sales, reaching 2,877,353 units—a 55.3% increase from 2022. Key models include:
- BYD Han – A luxury sedan in the Dynasty series
- BYD Tang – A real-time electric all-wheel drive seven-seat crossover
- BYD Dolphin – A BEV hatchback from the Ocean series
- BYD ATTO 3 – A subcompact BEV crossover from the Ocean series
